NASA Set To Reveal Mysterious “Record-Breaking” Hubble Discovery This Week

In its more than three decades of actively observing the universe, the Hubble Space telescope has broadened humanity’s horizons more than anyone might have expected when it was first launched. But despite its age, and a new telescope taking over, it’s not done yet revealing new and exciting aspects of the cosmos.

One such "record-breaking" revelation is set to be announced this week. In a media bulletin from NASA’s Goddard Research Institute, the agency has stated the announcement of a "record-breaking discovery" set for Wednesday, March 30, and it's “one for the history books”.

“For nearly 32 years, Hubble’s groundbreaking discoveries have rewritten textbooks and reshaped our understanding of the universe. This latest Hubble result not only extends our understanding of the universe but creates an exciting area of research for Hubble’s future work with NASA’s newly-launched James Webb Space Telescope,” the post says.

Although the JWST is designed to be Hubble's successor, the veteran observatory has been extended through 2026, so has plenty of life in it yet.

We will have to wait and see what record-breaking discovery Hubble has allowed astronomers to achieve. For a telescope that was only expected to last 15 years, the excitement of Hubble's overachievements never gets old.
